Creating software for better hospital management

Joining Asseco in creating user-centered HM software

Asseco Group is a leading company that primarily offers advanced technological tools and enterprise software in healthcare and finance. We've joined the Central European sector's team on multiple projects in creating the design for several applications in domains like laboratory inventory, hospital management systems and learning aids. We wanted to help them offer solutions for hospitals, medical clinics and healthcare service providers operating in public and private markets by designing an outstanding user experience.

The main challenge of these projects was making sure that our design systems were compliant with a very complicated and complex IT core as well as the end-users heavy medical protocols while equally focused on a human-centered customer experience–from streamlined user flows to more intuitive interfaces.

Designing for a complicated backend system

Reducing production costs by defining core elements

The projects involved several hundred screens of interactions between healthcare professionals and the software. It was a robust architecture that we needed to simplify.

A cohesive design language is a key for any project, but for something this scale, it had to be perfectly precise.

Deliverables

  • A design system with a cohesive design language and pattern library

Domain deep dive

Designing with regulations and protocol in mind

Creating an experience that is both delightful and safety-critical is important when designing for healthcare software, especially one that is used in hospital management. Our senior experts provided insights on domain-specific design challenges and held several in-house workshops for our design team to make them up to date with regulations and protocols.

We've also conducted several interviews with healthcare officials and stakeholders in order to better scope and situate our design for the product.

A seamless hospital management experience

Designing unique portals and mobile tools for patients

Making sure that the software is up to date with the Patient Safety Protocols and EU regulations for healthcare services is a must. However, designing for a good B2C experience is also important. To enhance the accessibility for patients in remote settings, we helped in creating a mobile app for patients for a seamless telemedicine experience.

With the renewed patient portal and mobile app, we expect to see great results in hospital management and better filing processes for Patient CVs.

Deliverables

  • An integrated patient portal
  • Mobile application for remote accessibility
