There is no other banking application in the Central European Region that would cater to such a wide target audience as the local branch of OTP Group's does. More than 1 million users frequent this application, making it the leading product on the market.
When this new application began to conceptualize, we were asked to help OTP Group with creating the new architecture and refurbished design system in agile development sprints.
2021
Bank of the Year Award by Mastercard OTP Group's goal is to improve the day-to-day banking experience of the general public. Therefore, we simplified the existing processes, both for on-boarding and everyday use, suspended redundant functions and implemented new features that ease the burden on the end-user.
Our senior designers played a great role in making this happen. Involved in Personal Finance, Bonds and Investments and daily banking processes, they have greatly influenced the app over a 2-year period.
Based on the research provided by our client, our target audience needed a simple, easy-to-use platform that is made for daily use. To achieve this, we've come up with a renewed information architecture that creates an intuitive hierarchy for the application.
In addition to customer satisfaction, a well-structured architecture will also mitigate the risk of communication error among the design squad and development teams, resulting in fewer iterations and reduced costs in production.
The tone of voice and the design system had to be created as the synthesis of the previously used design systems as well as in line with the renewed brand.
Second, the accumulated data and elements used in the previous design systems were challenging to maintain for the engineers. To reduce the burden on the development team, we proposed reusing parts of the design where there was a reason to do so instead of creating new elements for each page.
From customer expectations and previous application familiarity to adhere to, to the various stakeholder expectations, design teams are responsible for managing different points of view. Working closely with P.O.s, business analysts, and chapter leads as well as considering various user expectations, we helped to our client in creating a version of the banking processes that answered all of the end users' needs. We've created multiple iterations for each wireframe, and to ensure design validity, we've also put our prototypes through strict testing.
